Job Specifics

Duties Description NYSIF is seeking an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Coordinator to serve all Capital Region NYSIF Offices. This position is a split role reporting to the EAP Regional Representative and the NYSIF Deputy Director of Administration or their designee.

The role of the EAP coordinator is to provide confidential information, problem assessment, and referral services to state employees and their family members, and to serve as a resource to agencies and facilities in addressing work-life issues.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Provide confidential assessment and referral services to employees and their families.
•Comply with all NYS EAP policies and procedures in a professional and ethical manner.
•Create and maintain a resource file of local, public, and private services.
•Understand health insurance benefits and other negotiated benefits for state employees.
•Maintain regular contact and communication with the EAP regional representative and committee chairperson.
•Attend EAP committee meetings and provide input on current issues to the committee.
•Complete and submit a monthly statistical report to the EAP regional office and the committee chairperson, in a timely manner, to be reviewed at each committee meeting.
•Arrange return-to-work meetings to ease employee’s transition back to the workplace following an extended absence.
•Assist the agency in formulating a response to critical incidents in and outside the workplace.
•Provide New Employee Orientation, EAP Training for Supervisors, and other promotional presentations or trainings, as needed.
•Assist with preparation of EAP announcements, flyers, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
•Work with the EAP committee to plan and implement activities for employees, focusing on health and wellness programs.
•Meet and aide all Department programmatic areas with guidance and assistance related to long-term sustainable knowledge transfer and workforce planning.
•Perform all other associated and occupational related duties as assigned, including special projects.

Minimum Qualifications • Seven years of the experience* described for Equal Opportunity
Specialist 1; OR one year of State service in an equal opportunity, diversity and
inclusion, minority business, employment compliance, human resources, or
training position allocated at or above Grade 18.

*Qualifying experience includes working with organizations concerned with equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, civil rights, minority business development, or similar programs; or in recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members.

Substitutions: associate’s degree may substitute for two years of the nonsupervisory experience; bachelor’s degree for four years; and J.D. or master’s degree for five years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledgeable about health insurance benefits and other negotiated benefits for state employees.
• Proven track record of maintaining confidentiality and providing guidance to employees.
• Experience giving presentations, trainings or orientations to employees.
• Experience preparing announcements, flyers or other promotional materials.

Additional Comments For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
