Job Specifics
Duties Description Supervise professional and clerical staff
• Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service
• Provide or arrange for training on a regular basis to update staff regarding changes in laws, rules, or procedures.
• Resolve specific complaints from claimants, job seekers, and employers regarding services or programs.
• May research and prepare oral or written replies for the Commissioner of Labor in response to customer, employer or official government inquiries and/or complaints.
• May meet with employers, unions, and community representatives regarding layoffs and work stoppages.
Minimum Qualifications If Civil Service Eligible list(s) exist, they will be canvassed. You may also apply if you are eligible for appointment by one of the following qualifications:

Subsequent 55 B/C Qualifications:
A subsequent 55b/c appointment may be considered if you have one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a grade 18 or above, as determined to be similar by civil service and have a current Civil Service 55b/c approval letter.
Reassignment Qualifications (DOL EMPLOYEES ONLY:
Current Department of Labor employee with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a Supervising Labor Services Representative; if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current eligible list for this location, if one exists.
70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in the following titles may qualify for transfer pursuant to Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law:
Employment Counselor – Grade 18
Employment Counselor Spanish Language – Grade 18
Employment Services Representative – Grade 18
Investigative Officer 2 Unemployment Insurance – Grade 20
Senior Administrative Analyst – Grade 18
Senior Unemployment Insurance Hearing Representative – Grade 20
Senior Unemployment Insurance Reviewing Examiner – Grade 20
Unemployment Insurance Accounts Support Supervisor 1 – Grade 20
Workforce Programs Specialist 1 – Grade 18
